The first wash

What to expect, and why a deep colour goes in with the darks.

Stonewashed linen has already been washed before it reaches you, so it won't shrink much more. Wash it once before you use it anyway — it gets softer each time.

Use a warm or cool cycle and a mild detergent. Skip fabric softener; it coats the fibres and makes linen less absorbent.

Deep colours like Ink can give off a little dye in the first few washes. Wash them with darks, or on their own, until the water runs clear.
